International Rectifier's Lighting HVIC Wins Best Power Control Product Award from Leading Publication in China

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., May 23, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- International Rectifier, IRŪ (NYSE:IRF), a world leader in power management technology, today announced the company's IRS2166D high-voltage lighting IC has been selected by a leading industry publication, Electronic Design & Application World-Nikkei Electronics China (EDAW-NEC), as the best power control product.

The IRS2166D is a 600V fully-integrated and protected control IC for advanced fluorescent lamp ballasts which incorporate power factor correction (PFC). Integrating PFC, ballast control and half-bridge driver in a single monolithic device, the IC operates in critical conduction mode for a high power factor (PF) of 0.99, and features low total harmonic distortion (THD) of less than 10 percent and precise DC bus regulation within a tolerance of 2.5 percent.

"We thank EDAW for recognizing IR's continuing product efforts to save energy. This lighting IC helps ballast designers meet energy efficiency mandates," said Alex Lidow, CEO of International Rectifier.

Winners were recognized at an awards ceremony on May 23 in Beijing, coinciding with the Power Module and Technology Conference.
