International Rectifier Opens New Manufacturing Facility in China
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. October 2005— International Rectifier, IR® (NYSE: IRF), a world leader in power management technology, opened its new manufacturing facility in Xi'an, China, on October 13. The new assembly and test facility will manufacture power management components needed to support the world's growing requirement for power supplies and intelligent Motor Control.
Walt Lifsey, IR's executive vice president of Operations, said, "The electronics manufacturing industry is growing rapidly in China as is International Rectifier’s customer base in the region. Our new facility in Xi’an will allow us to better serve these customers as well as our customers throughout the world."
"International Rectifier has had a long and established presence in China dating back to 1992. Their new facility will strengthen their commitment in China and to the Asian markets. We are happy they are part of our community," said Sun Qing Yun, the mayor of Xi'an.
The new site is located in the Chang'an Technology Park in Xi'an's High Technology Industrial Development Zone. In addition to the new manufacturing facility, the Company maintains design and applications centers in Xi'an, a trading company in Shanghai, and multiple sales offices throughout China. International Rectifier operates facilities in 19 other countries throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Its headquarters are located in El Segundo, California.
