May 2005 - International Rectifier, IR® (NYSE: IRF), a world leader in power management technology, today announced that their energy-saving iMOTION™ integrated power modules (IPMs) have won the "Best Marketing Value" award from Electronics Design and Application World (EDAW), a leading electronics industry publication in China.

The iMOTION design platform integrates digital, analog and power technologies together in a flexible, mixed signal chip set to simplify Motor Control designs and bring energy-efficient, cost-effective appliances to market faster. Recently, International Rectifier expanded its iMOTION family to include the three advanced integrated power modules being recognized by EDAW. These IPMs simplify the implementation of variable-speed electronic motor control circuits in appliances.

All three of the recent additions to the iMOTION family of devices - the IRAMS06UP60A, IRAMS06UP60B and IRAMS10UP60B - combine IR's low loss, non-punch-through (NPT) short circuit-rated IGBT; a three-phase, high-voltage, high-speed driver IC; and over 20 individual parts into a single, compact isolated package. By adding a few external components and a microcontroller, designers have a complete variable-speed motor drive at their fingertips. EMI emissions are minimized due to shorter connection routing, optimized component layout and internal shielding.
