International Rectifier Introduces Efficient, High Voltage, High Current Diode in DO-5 Package
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - May 2005 - International Rectifier, IR®(NYSE: IRF), a world leader in power management technology, today introduced the 105PF40T 400V, 105A diode in a plastic DO-5 package for heavy duty, industrial applications such as arc welders and storage battery chargers.
The new diode features very low maximum peak forward voltage (VFM = 0.98V@200A typ.) and a thermal resistance of 0.25ºC per watt. Competing devices have higher thermal resistances from 0.35ºC to 0.40ºC per watt, making them less efficient.
"IR's new DO-5 packaged device combines high voltage, current and surge capability with excellent thermal efficiency to provide performance which rivals larger DO-8 packages," said Silvestro Fimiani, International Rectifier Product Marketing Manager.
The glass-passivated silicon chip in the new diode is housed in a threaded, stud-mount plastic package, designed to simplify heatsink mounting. The single-hole mount also provides flexibility for multiple diode assemblies, such as bridge rectifier circuits.
