EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - November 2004 - International Rectifier IR® (NYSE:IRF), a world leader in power management technology, announced today that its Newport, Wales, facility has won another energy efficiency award in the United Kingdom, this time given by the ARENA Network in Wales.

ARENA Director Len Hancock said, "The Best Use of Energy in Business Award recognizes IR Newport for their outstanding efforts to develop and promote best practices in environmental management systems for business. We congratulate them for their continued efforts."

IR Newport's Facilities Director Stuart Langdon said, "Since acquiring the site in 2002, we have worked diligently to reduce our annual energy consumption by 25% while increasing production volumes by more than 70%. One important step taken in 2003 was to institute an automated, activity-based, energy use monitoring and targeting system. The system has allowed us to detect and avoid energy waste as well as reduce CO2 emissions. Initial detection of avoidable waste reduced the site's CO2 emissions by 170 tonnes per month and CO2 emissions are continually being reduced. We thank ARENA Network for the honor and the opportunity to share best practices with our colleagues in the industry."
