International Rectifier Expands Suite of Online Design Tools for Advanced Power Systems
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. March 2004 - International Rectifier, IR(®) (NYSE: IRF), a world leader in power management technology, today introduced an expansion of their myPOWER On-line Design Center, an Internet-based design and simulation tool combined with overnight design kit fulfillment to cut weeks of design time for advanced power systems.
To assist in power management design for synchronous buck DC-DC converters, IR has added a utility to detail switching and conduction losses related to each MOSFET as well as the passive components in the overall circuit diagram.
"The new detailed losses page allows the design engineer to select devices and predict their junction temperatures in the actual operating environment," said David Schroeder, Design Services Manager.
The new tool allows an engineer to input his or her operating conditions and receive detailed information on losses caused by the input/output capacitors, input/output inductors, control MOSFET, and synchronous MOSFET as well as learn overall performance and cost. Links to data sheets for all of the MOSFETs used in the tool also are provided.
In addition, four new Spice circuit simulations are now available online for the iP1201 and iP1202, single- and dual-output, two-phase DC-DC converters. These models can be configured to mirror actual reference designs. To optimize a design, a user simulates circuit performance with varying passive components around the iP120x device until the preferred design is found. The optimized design with custom passive components then can be ordered online for overnight delivery within the U.S. and three to five days worldwide.
All of the tools are available free of charge and may be accessed at http://mypower.irf.com.
