International Rectifier's HEXFET® SOT-223 Achieves Q101
International Rectifier now offers the most reliable device in this
small footprint on the market a significant commitment to
product quality for the automotive market.
EL SEGUNDO, CA. April 1999 - International Rectifier (IR®) has qualified an expansive range of devices in the industry standard SOT-223 package
outline to the Q101 automotive industry quality standard for up to 150°C. This responds to the demand by automotive customers for
small power MOSFETs that can withstand extreme temperatures and stringent quality standards.
The new SOT-223 series exhibits a breakdown voltage as high as 250V and an RDS(on) as low as 40mW. With 13 N- and
P-channel devices qualified for production, the designer has more choices than ever before to optimize his design, and therefore
reduce system cost.
"A complete redesign of our existing package to include the latest technology in both materials and processing techniques
allowed us to comply with the extreme test conditions demanded by Q101," says Roger Miller, technical marketing manager for
automotive switches at IR. The qualification results and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) report is available upon request.
Samples can be located through IR's normal sales channels, and data sheets are available either on IR's Web site (www.irf.com)
or Fax-On-Demand system (1-310-252-7100 USA and 44-1883-733420 Europe). The
available devices are listed in the table below:
