With a New 28-Pin LCC, International Rectifier's Government and Space Division Makes a Major Surface Mount Advance for Rad-HardTM MOSFETs
EL SEGUNDO, CA. September 1998 - International Rectifier (IR) now offers a new 28-pin LCC package -- a hermetically sealed surface mount
replacement for the popular 14-pin side-braze package for Rad-Hard power MOSFETs. At 0.89 g, this new package features lighter
weight and a smaller footprint than its leading counterpart, and offers a lower junction-to-case thermal resistance of 10.4°C/W/FET
compared to 17°C/W/FET for competing parts.
The 28-pin LCC is very versatile and enables IR customers to specify a different number of die configurations. This package can be
used with a quad (4 size 1 or size 2 FETs ), or any combination of IR Rad-Hard or standard dice, depending on their sizes. Standard
combinations, such as 4 N-channel Rad-Hard (IRHQ7110), 4 P-channel
Rad-Hard (-->IRHQ9110) and 2 N-/2 P-channel Rad-Hard
(-->IRHQ6110) power MOSFETs are available. This surface mount
version also offers a higher current capability than side-braze packages and can be used in full-bridge circuits for motor drive, power
supply applications and linear regulators.
Samples can be located through International Rectifier's normal sales channels.
