International Rectifier Re-sets March-Quarter Guidance
EL SEGUNDO, CA. March 1998 - Based on current business conditions, International Rectifier Corporation (IRF/NYSE/PSE) expects third-quarter
earnings of between $0.06 and $0.08 per share on revenues of about $140 million, versus $0.08 per share on revenues of $122.8
million in the year-ago quarter.
The shortfall against the Company's previous guidance reflects weakness in computer-related and consumer electronics
business, which will result in lower sales in Japan and flat revenues in North America. Industrial and automotive demand remained
strong during the quarter.
Compared to the December quarter, IR expects its March-quarter gross margin to decline by about one percentage point.
Selling and administrative expense should remain flat, while research and development expense will rise by about $1 million.
IR posted a market share gain of about one-and-a-half points over the last several months for which industry data is available.
