International Rectifier Offers Thin Surface-Mount Packages for Microelectronic Relays
International Rectifier's PVT422P offers the electrical parameters and performance of the PVT422 in a surface-mount package that is only 2mm
high for use inside Type II PCMCIA cards that are 5mm thick across the outer metal shell.
EL SEGUNDO, CA. September 1997 International Rectifier (IR) has added the PVT422P in a low-profile, surface-mount package to their line of specialized telecom
and general purpose microelectronic relays (MERs). The new device is intended specifically for the portables market, including such applications
as Type II PCMCIA fax/modem and data acquisition cards.
The PVT422P Series offers a maximum load voltage of ±400 volts (DC or AC peak) and a maximum load current of 120 mA per channel at an
RDD(ON) of 35 Ohms maximum. Unlike competitive devices, the PVT422P does not derate the load current (120 mA) when both channels are on at the
same time. The PVT422P requires only 2mA of input LED current to actuate, which makes it TTL- and CMOS-compatible. A high input-to-output
optical isolation of 3,750 VRMS allows it to meet worldwide electrical safety standards and regulations.
The PVT422P Series relays are packaged in an 8-pin, molded "Thin Pak" DIP package with "gull-wing" surface-mount terminals. It is
available in standard plastic shipping tubes (50 count) or on tape-and-reel (1,000 per reel). Typical applications include on/off hookswitch, dial
pulse generation and injection and general purpose switching. Although these relays have been designed primarily for peripheral telecom devices,
they can also be used in applications such as data acquisition and instru-mentation, security equipment, process automation and industrial controls.
PVT422P Datasheet
Samples of the PVT422P are now available. Lead time for production volume orders is 6 to 8 weeks.
