International Rectifier Introduces the Micro8 FETKYTM Integrating a HEXFET® Power MOSFET and Schottky Diode into a Single Package

Micro8 FETKYTM is a perfect replacement for a discrete MOSFET and Schottky diode
combination in applications where board space is at a premium,' says Srini Thiruvenkatachari,

but also reduce assembly costs in power converters and other power subsystems for high density applications."
EL SEGUNDO, CA. August 1997 - International Rectifier (IR), the leading supplier of advanced semiconductors for power conversion applications, has enhanced
its power component solution that combines a HEXFET® power MOSFET and a Schottky diode in a
single small outline package.
Hot on the heels of International Rectifier's popular FETKYTM in the SO-8 package and in
response to numerous requests for a smaller outline, IR has developed four new FETKY devices in the Micro8 package. The Micro8 solution
provides a 52% space savings over a discrete design using a TSOP-6 MOSFET and SMA Schottky (including the intercomponent
board space savings), a factor that is critical to handheld portable electronics where board space is at a premium. Consequently, designers have a
simplified circuit layout with design flexibility at a cost comparable to the discrete option.
The Micro8 FETKY can be used in a step-up or step-down converter from single or multiple cell Li-ion or Ni-based battery supplies, battery
charge control circuits and other power circuits where the RDS(on), VF and board space are critical.
The FETKY product family has now grown to twelve members with the addition of these four new Micro8 devices:
