International Rectifier's New 75V and 150V HEXFET® Power MOSFETs Offer New Options for Optimizing Power Conversion Systems
The lndustry's first 150V MOSFET and new 75-Volt devices allow
designers to better optimize switch selection for board mounting or
switch mode power supply and UPS applications.
EL SEGUNDO, CA. March 1997 - International Rectifier (IR), introduces two
new voltage ratings to their family of HEXFET® Power MOSFETS.
These new 75V and 150V devices allow designers to optimize component
selection for both 24V and 48V input DC/DC power supplies and
Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS).
Both the 75V and 150V devices offer low RDS(on) specifications
to improve power conversion efficiency and reduce heatsinking
requirements. These new devices also feature an industry leading
high avalanche rating for lower voltage margin penalty. This
new offering is available in a selection of packages including
the TO-220, D2- Pak, and TO-220 FullPak.
"These devices are specifically designed for 24V (IRF2807)
and 48V (IRF3415) battery applications," says RJ Friedlander,
Strategic Marketing Manager of the Switch Product Marketing
Group at International Rectifier. "So, instead of using
a 60V MOSFET with inadequate voltage margin, you can now choose
a 75V device that optimizes the voltage/RDS(on) tradeoff for the
application." The same is even more true at 15OV, where the
prior options were 1 OOV and 200V devices. By taking advantage
of the lower RDS(on)of the new 75V and 150V devices, a designer
can use fewer devices in parallel, utilize a smaller heatsink,
or upgrade the power output level of the existing design.
"As with all our Gen HEXFET power MOSFETS, these devices
take advantage of the proprietary and unique 4-mask process that
IR has pioneered," says Friedlander. "This enables
the performance improvements to be offered cost-effectively and
with significant volume capability and short manufacturing cycle
times."
For more detailed information, data sheets for the 75V and 150V
HEXFETs can be obtained through International Rectifier's Fax-On-Demand
system 310-252-71 00, and web-site (http://www.irf.com). For technical
support, please contact the Technical Assistance Center (Pro Center)
at 310-252-7105. Samples for both the 75V and 150V HEXFETs are
available now. Full production orders for the 75V are currently
being accepted, and will be accepted in April for the 15OV.
Thepricing listed in the following chart is for quantities of 10,000.
