International Rectifier Wins QS-9000 Certification for Automotive Quality
EL SEGUNDO, CA, August 1996 - International Rectifier's (IR) El Segundo Wafer Fab was awarded second party approval to the QS-9000 Quality System requirements, with a designated specification under its Semiconductor Supplement known as AEC-A100.
The AEC-A100 distinction is the specialization of QS-9000, a creation of the "Big Three" U.S. automakers: Ford, Chrysler and General Motors, and written specifically for semiconductor manufacturers. Delco Electronics conducted the audit and worked with IR to complete the specification requirements.
"The certificate is the culmination of a considerable effort by a great many people," said IR's director of quality and reliability, Sheldon Mittleman, who was involved in the audit and congratulated the team. "All who took part in this effort should be very proud of the results," he added.
