International Rectifier Adds Two New N-Channel Devices
EL SEGUNDO, CA, July 1996 - International Rectifier (IR) has added to their rapidly expanding family of Fifth Generation
HEXFET® power MOSFETs (Gen5) by introducing two new N-Channel 30V devices, the IRL3103 and IRL3303.
These devices offer improved efficiency over previous generation 60V parts that are commonly used in DC/DC converter
circuits. With the proliferation of Pentium™ based and other 3.3V micro-processors 30V Gen5 MOSFETs are ideal for either on-board
or voltage regulator module (VRM) DC/DC converters. In addition, these components will enable designers to develop more efficient
circuits in 12V UPS systems and in various automotive applications such as ABS, power steering and HVAC systems.
Gen5 30V HEXFETs offer designers lower voltage and RDS(on). For example, a designer who was previously using two
IRFZ44's (60V, .028 ohms) or two IRFZ34's (60V, .050 ohms) in parallel, can now use a single IRL3103 or IRL3303 respectively. Both
the IRL3103 and IRL3303 are logic - level devices and have on-resistance ratings at VGS = 10V and 5.5V. At VGS = 10V. the IRL3103
offers RDS(on) = .014 ohms and ID = 56A. whereas the IRL3303 offers RDS(on) = .026 ohms and ID = 34A.
Available in both in the through-hole TO-220 (IRL3103 & IRL33030) and surface-mount D2 Pak (IRL3103S & IRL3303S), these
benchmark parts have been production qualified and are available in production volumes.
Data sheets are currently available for
IRL3103,
IRL3303,
IRL3103S, and
IRL3303S and samples are available directly through
IR and selected distributors.
