New International Rectifier Photovoltaic Relay Offers Highest Load Current Rating At 60 Volts
EL SEGUNDO, CA.-- The newest Microelectronic Photovoltaic Relay (MER) developed by International Rectifier
Corporation offers the industry's leading performance for isolated switching of high load current and voltage.
Another addition to the second generation of the Company's expanding solid state MER family, the PVG612
provides switching performance of up to 60 volts AC or DC at up to 1 Amp of load current. If DC-only operation is
required, the new MER's load current handling capability extends up to a full 2A, about two times that of the most
competitive relay. Along with this advanced performance in a key MER operating parameter, the new solid-state
relay features an input drive of only 5mA, fully TTL compatible.
Attaining these advanced operating specifications gives the new International Rectifier relays across-the-board
solid-state performance superior in most aspects to reed and electromechanical products.
The new MER units are ideally suited for numerous applications that include programmable logic controllers,
audio equipment, computers and peripherals, power supplies, load distribution to displays, indicators, and industrial
automation.
The PVG612 is a single-pole, normally open solid-state relay. It utilizes a unique new integrated circuit
photovoltaic generator and the Company's HEXFET® power MOSFET transistors as the output switch.
The switch is controlled by radiation from a light-emitting diode that is optically isolated from the generator.
Housed in the industry-standard, 6-pin DEP plastic package, the PVG612 is available with through-hole teminals
as well as a "gull-wing" surface-mount package in either standard plastic shipping tubes or on tape and reel.
Production orders are available with eight to ten week lead-times.
