International Rectifier Introduces Rugged and Reliable Rectifier-IGBT Modules that Simplify High Current Industrial Circuits
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - International Rectifier, IR® (NYSE: IRF), introduces the new INT-A-Pak (IAP) Rectifier-Switch family of 150A and 250A (ratings at 100°C) isolated modules optimized for high-current industrial switch-mode power supplies, such as the output inverter stage for high-quality tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding machines and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
IR's IGBTs balance conduction and switching loss for best efficiency and the lowest saturation voltage on the market for hard-switching applications up to 1kHz. The IAP-Switch modules are made with insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) switches with or without free-wheeling diodes combined into a single INT-A-Pak module package. The new isolated modules are a more reliable and rugged solution with lower assembly cost compared to a discrete solution.
The GA100TS60SQ is a fully insulated half-bridge module made with IR standard-speed IGBTs with low forward-voltage drop of 1.11V at 100A, and fast reverse recovery QuietIR™ freewheeling diodes. Auxiliary emitter terminals are provided to block the high output current flowing in the collector-emitter from the driving circuit, reducing switching energy and switching time.
The GA200HS60S is similar to the GA100TS60SQ, without freewheeling diodes and rated at 250A. Each switch is made with two standard-speed IGBTs with forward voltage drop of 1.19V at 200A in parallel. The very low saturation voltage is designed for applications where conduction loss must be as low as possible, such as TIG welding machines and on-line UPS. Each of the two IGBT gates is available through its own control terminal, allowing a separate gate driving function.
