International Rectifier Introduces New Stud-Mount Standard Recovery Diodes for High-Voltage, High-Current Industrial Applications

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - International Rectifier, IR(®) (NYSE: IRF) today introduced the new 150U(R) series 235A standard-recovery, stud-mount rectifiers in the DO-8 package. Stud-mount rectifier diodes are used to convert raw alternating current (AC) mains electricity into direct current (DC) power, the first step in the power conversion process. The new stud-mount rectifiers slash the dollars-per-amp cost by 50%, improving the value of large standard-recovery diodes.

The 150U(R) series rectifiers have ratings from 600V to 1200V and 150A at 125 degrees Celsius case temperature, and are made for demanding industrial applications such as welding, machine tool controls, battery chargers and power supplies, and are available in anode-to-case and cathode-to-case versions with US and European threads.

DO-8

Dr. Francesco Vallone, International Rectifier Product Marketing Manager said, "Stud-mount rectifiers are used in the very first part of the power conversion process. The new rectifiers are made with the latest IR manufacturing techniques to enhance performance while remaining cost-effective."

The new rectifiers are manufactured with a new process that combines brazed-die construction with the reliability and ruggedness of compressed assembly. The new devices have outstanding power cycling performance and the ability to maintain stable forward-voltage characteristics throughout component lifetime.
