International Rectifier Announces New Schottky Diodes that Double Current Density Compared to Competing Devices
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - International Rectifier, IRŪ (NYSE: IRF) announces new 150V Schottky diodes ranging from 20A to 80A for output rectification found in telecom systems, notebook computer power adaptors and printer power supplies. The new diodes double current density compared to competitive or previous generation solutions. For example, the 80CPQ150 is rated for 80A, and can replace two TO-247-packaged devices in parallel, or a much larger D61-packaged device. The 60CTQ150 (PP) is a 60A device in the TO-220 package, and can replace a larger device in the TO-247 package.
The new devices are excellent drop-in replacements for existing designs. In new designs, the new Schottky diodes can cut board space in half.
"For example, new notebook computers with advanced features and performance require 18 to 24 volts from the power adaptor. The 60CTQ150 offers a cost-effective, non-synchronous alternative for higher power, higher voltage output computer adaptors, eliminating the need to go to more expensive and complex synchronous rectification," said Stephen Oliver, International Rectifier Marketing Manager, AC-DC Products.
