EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - International Rectifier, IR® (NYSE: IRF) today introduces a new family of 15V, 30V, 45V and 100V high current Schottky diodes rated at 110A in surface mount and thru-hole D-61 packages. The new CNQ series devices offer over 35% higher current carrying capability than IR's previous generation devices in the same package and over a 100% increase in current density (A/in3) over competing devices in SOT-227 or TO-247 type packages.

Increased power density and higher reliability are the primary driving factors which influence the design of high power switch mode power supplies (SMPS) for telecom/datacom systems, as well as servers, workstations and mainframes. The new diode families are suitable for output rectification in such SMPS systems. These devices are also suitable for Oring, (15V diodes for 5V, 3.3V and 1.8V output converters and 100V devices for 48V output converters) in N+1 redundant power supply systems.

The new Schottky diodes come in an improved D-61 package with a thicker base plate and heavy duty leads for increased current handling capability. Improved bonding techniques have lowered forward voltage drop (VF) by up to 20% compared to IR's previous generation devices, reducing conduction losses while improving thermal performance.
