International Rectifier Introduces High Current, Low-Profile Power Devices for Heavy-Duty and Industrial Use

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - International Rectifier, IR(®) (NYSE: IRF) today introduced the MTP family of high current, three-phase input bridge rectifiers. Bridge rectifiers are a necessary component for any electronic device requiring the conversion of alternating current (AC) to useful direct current (DC), for heavy-duty and industrial applications such as uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), motor drives and welding.

The MTP family rectifiers are housed in a compact, low-profile (12mm) package, compatible with many popular mounting standards. The output pins are double-wide (for version A, flat terminals), to decrease interconnect inductance and improve conductivity. Two terminal configurations (round or flat pins) are available to accommodate a multitude of automated- or hand-insertion printed circuit board assembly methods.

Dr. Francesco Vallone, International Rectifier Product Marketing Manager said, "The low-profile package was specifically conceived to maximize space-savings and helps optimize circuit layout in any application."

Six glass-passivated diode chips are mounted on a copper base plate for maximum thermal dissipation. Full-mechanical decoupling from the terminals and large creepage distance ensures the highest reliability.

The MTP Series bridge rectifier family consists of the 40MT (45A rating at a case temperature of 100°C), 70MT and 100MT (respectively 75A and 100A rating at a case temperature of 80 degrees Celsius). The new bridge rectifiers have an insulation voltage rating of 3500V RMS, with a repetitive peak reverse voltage rating of 1400V and 1600V. The maximum leakage current is 5mA at 125 degrees Celsius.

Several variants of each family member exist, and are reflected by part number suffix. Refer to the Ordering Information Table in the product data sheets for complete details.
