International Rectifier Upgrades High-Voltage HEXFET® Power MOSFETs for Hard-Switching Bridge AC/DC Power Supplies
New application-specific MOSFETs deliver the best combination of low conduction, decreased switching loss and lower system cost.
EL SEGUNDO, CA. June 2000 - International Rectifier (IR®) introduces new Benchmark and High Performance devices optimized for 1kW output, hard-switching (HS) converters. These devices are significant upgrades to IR's industry-leading family of HEXFET® power MOSFETs for offline switch-mode power supply (SMPS) applications.
IR has increased ruggedness and reliability by increasing avalanche energy, dv/dt turn-off failure immunity and Cdv/dt immunity. Power dissipation is reduced with lower RDS(on). The new HS-optimized HEXFET® power MOSFETs have low gate-charge characteristics to simplify drive circuitry.

The new HS MOSFETs are available in industry standard as well as IR's exclusive Super-220™ and Super-D2Pak™ packages. The "super packages" offer best-in-class RDS(on) performance.
Pricing for IR's new high performance MOSFETs for HS bridge AC/DC applications begins at $1.67 each in quantities of 10,000. The devices can be sampled now by contacting normal IR sales channels. Volume production is scheduled for July, 2000.
