INTERNATIONAL RECTIFIER - THE POWER MANAGEMENT LEADER

Non-Isolated DC-DC Converters

Single Phase Synchronous Buck Converter

  • Freewheeling Schottky diode is replaced with another MOSFET to reduce conduction losses due to the voltage drop across the diode.
  • Control MOSFET SC and Synchronous Rectification MOSFET SS are turned on and off alternatively with a short dead time.
  • Sometimes small Schottky diode is added in parallel to Sync FET to reduce MOSFET body diode reverse-recovery and conduction losses.
