Three simple, non-isolated regulator topologies can be used to convert the 3.3 – 12V from an isolated
AC-DC or DC-DC Main Power Supply to a lower voltage required by digital ICs. The basic topologies are
Buck Regulator, Synchronous Buck Regulator and Linear Regulator. The synchronous version of the buck
topology that substitutes the Schottky with a lower-loss MOSFET, is used to achieve higher efficiency.
