We, at International Rectifier, are developing and manufacturing our most advanced power management technologies at our Newport facility, focusing on analog and mixed signal markets, using CMOS, TIGBT and Power MOSFET processes.
Production and test facilities are all located at one site in Newport, South Wales. The six-inch fab (Fab 10) supports wafers down to 0.2ĩm and combines conventional and SMIF cleanroom concepts to provide class 1.0 and class 0.1 environments, respectively. With a cleanroom area of 3,000mē, the eight-inch fab (Fab 11) supports wafers at 0.2ĩm. There is also European support centre located at Reigate along with Package R&D.

Senior Process Engineers Etch & PVD
International Rectifier is currently looking for Senior Process Engineers for Etch and PVD modules based in Newport, South Wales. Reporting into the relevant Section Head for the area, you will assume responsibility for process sustaining, continuous improvement and technology transfers in either the Etch or PVD modules.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Process scheduling/planning and execution
- Process FMEA
- Budgeting and cost for process set up and sustaining
- Process recipe transfer / development, characterization and optimisation through design of experiment (DOE) and appropriate documentation
- Report process performance and indices (scrap, Capability, stability indexes)
- Process troubleshooting using 8D methodology
- Manufacturing procedure for processes under his responsibility and duties
- Productivity improvement on processes under his responsibility
- Responsible to organize and complete training and certification of process shift support and manufacturing
Educated to degree level in a science or engineering discipline, you will have senior level semiconductor Etch or PVD process engineering experience. Candidates will have high volume manufacturing experience working on 6 or 8 technology down to 0.35um. The highly senior nature of this role means you will be able to communicate and work with R&D, device and process integration professionals. Along with drive, energy and coaching skills, you will be expected to help champion and further continuous process improvement projects.

Senior Equipment Engineers Etch & PVD
International Rectifier is currently looking for Senior Equipment Engineers for Etch and PVD modules based in Newport, South Wales. Your key responsibility will be to oversee all maintenance, sustaining and troubleshooting of Etch or PVD equipment in the cleanrooms, including management of tool installs and tool metrics.
Your core duties will include:
- Completing advanced preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on key tools
- Participating in PM procedure documentation, PM procedure improvements and upkeeping cost control
- Completing equipment statistical process control set up and documenting troubleshooting of out of control situation
- Managing tool install projects as necessary
- Responsible for safety, ie operation and maintenance of Etch or PVD equipment
