Providing for a work/life balance is an IR priority.
A recent IR employee survey showed that a vast majority of employees are emphasizing their lives outside their work. Even though career goals are more ambitious and individual jobs more demanding, we all seek a greater balance between the workplace and our personal lives.
IR offers the following work/lifestyle programs to provide alternatives to better help the individual balance family and personal responsibilities with the business role.
PAID TIME OFF AND OTHER PAID LEAVES
Personal Time Off (PTO)
This is the program offered to provide employees the opportunity to take paid time off work
for rest, relaxation, holidays, illness and personal needs. PTO gives employees the flexibility
to select time away from work in a manner that fits their personal and professional schedule.
PTO combines holiday pay, vacation pay and sick pay into one "account". Since the Company moved to the
Paid Time Off (PTO) policy a few years ago, IR has not had a traditional, established holiday
schedule. The rationale behind that is to allow employees to have maximum flexibility in
deciding which days they prefer to reserve for themselves and/or their families. That level
of choice lets each employee observe the holidays, religious events or other days that are most
meaningful to them as individuals, and to make coordination of schedules with friends and
families easier. That flexibility also lets business functions operate with less
complete shutdown time.
Bereavement Leave
The death of an immediate family member is often a sad and difficult event, one that calls
for our compassion, respect and support. IR provides paid leave to provide employees with the
time they need to be with their families and friends to grieve the loss of a loved one.
Military Leave
Regular employees are granted military leave, if they are required to participate in active duty for annual military training. Regular employees are granted an extended military leave if it is necessary to fulfill a military obligation.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE
Medical leave
A medical leave of absence may be paid or unpaid and may be granted to an employee who is unable to work due to illness, injury or pregnancy. All medical leaves will run concurrently with all family care/medical leaves. Medical leaves can run up to six months for employees with less than five years of service and up to 12 months with five years or greater service time.
Personal Leave
A personal leave of absence may be granted for up to thirty (30) calendar days for personal reasons.
EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE - TUITION REIMBURSEMENT
Pre-approved educational assistance requests are available to reimbursement at either 100% or 50% of the cost of the course depending upon their direct value to your current job up to maximum amounts established by the Company policy.
EMPLOYEE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
International Rectifier has an established scholarship fund to assist children of employees in pursuing further education
HEATH/FITNESS PROGRAM
Staying healthy is important. A few ways IR supports this priority is by offering the following: gym memberships at a discounted rate, providing bike racks around the site, and offering a subsidized rate for the use of showers at a nearby gym for those who enjoy exercising in the middle of the day.
IR employees are good examples of work/life balance initiatives. A group of them has launched
yoga classes in El Segundo. The program is successful and offers employees an opportunity of
healthiness and relaxation to reduce stress.
FAMILY EVENTS
As employees, a large amount of time is spent at work, and often times an employee's family
at home and work family do not meet. In El Segundo, IR tries to bring the two together at
least once a year. In 2003, IR employees met at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA for a
day of fellowship and fun!

Saving money on the ticket price of favorite activities means more money for popcorn,
games and souvenirs! IR currently has discounted tickets for the following attractions in
the Southern California area: AMC and Pacific Theatres, Aquarium of the Pacific, Big Bear
Mountain Resorts, Disneyland and Disneyland California Adventure Park, Knott's Berry Farm,
Knott's Soak City, Legoland, Los Angeles County Fair, Magic Mountain, San Diego Zoo, San

Running from meeting to meeting with no time to grab a bite to eat? IR subsidizes the
cafeteria to allow employees to eat a healthy meal at a low cost.

RIDE SHARE PROGRAM
Gift cards and weekly pre-paid lunch tickets for the cafeteria are available to reward
employees excelling in ridesharing programs.
