EiceDRIVER™ High Voltage Gate Driver | Automotive xEV Applications
Infineon’s automotive qualified isolated gate driver and non-isolated gate driver enables system optimization and increased efficiency together with MOSFET, IGBT and SiC technologies.
Infineon offers a wide range of automotive qualified isolated and non-isolated gate driver ICs covering the usage of MOSFET, IGBT, and SiC technologies used in automotive applications up to 1200V. Infineon’s automotive EiceDRIVER™, referring to the isolated gate driver, uses a magnetically coupled coreless transformer technology and it provides short propagation delays, excellent delay matching and strong robustness for driving the IGBT and SiC power switches. Infineon has more than a decade of experience with the isolation technology and our products are proven to be robust with the respective certification by the Institute such as VDE.
In automotive xEV applications such as the main inverter, DCDC converter, and on board charger in (hybrid) electric vehicles, efficiency, integration, scalability, and higher safety matters to extend its system performance. Infineon’s latest 3rd generation isolated gate driver products are designed according to higher ISO26262 compliance and it brings further optimization in system with powerful output stages, various safety relevant features and compact fine pitch package design. Our fast switching automotive gate drivers increase efficiency in all high voltage auxiliary applications as well such as High Voltage E-Compressor and PTC Heater to maximize performance in (hybrid) electric vehicles. Although our gate driver is mainly used for xEV applications as mentioned, Infineon’s high voltage gate driver products can also be a fit to piezo/common rail injection, in-cabin wireless charger, and various body/infotainment applications where high voltage tolerance is desired.
The Infineon EiceDRIVER™ family includes automotive IGBT Driver IC’s & SiC MOSFET, providing galvanic isolation and bidirectional signal transmission with high ambient temperature capability. They enable extremely short propagation delays keeping the designer’s flexibilities at the highest level, while providing galvanic isolation using the robust Infineon coreless transformer (CT) technology. They support IGBT and SiC technologies up to 1200V. Advanced monitoring and protection features facilitate the implementation of ISO26262 functional safety requirements. The products operate stable in harsh EMC environments.
The products are based on a RoHS conform and robust package solution specially developed to meet automotive requirements. This results in 260°C peak reflow temperatures while still passing full AEC Q101 qualification. With our zero-defect philosophy, our market-leading products exceed AEC-Q101 automotive quality standards.
Very compact package solutions & high level of feature integration reduce the number of external components to simplify the board layout, minimize system cost and shrink the PCB space needed.
The Infineon EiceDRIVER™ family products are ideal for automotive applications, such as main inverter, DC-DC converter or on-board charger, where efficiency, space savings and safety are priorities.
SiC power electronics such as CoolSiC™ - when used in xEV applications like the main inverter, On-board-charger & DC-DC converter - increase the driving range of (hybrid) electric vehicles and reduce energy losses during charging.
EiceDRIVER™ SiC MOSFET Gate Driver ICs are the perfect fit to CoolSiC™ MOSFETs and necessary to utilize the full performance of SiC power switches.
In the automotive EiceDRIVER™portofolio, the 1EDI303xAS variants are optimized for SiC: 1EDI3030AS, 1EDI3031AS, 1EDI3033AS. They incorporate the key features and parameters to drive SiC MOSFETS such as an enhanced switching behaviour (extended CMTI capability, fast propagation delay, switching frequency), wide output-side supply range, short internal deadtime and DESAT / OCP threshold level adaption.
The EiceDRIVER™ 1EDI302xAS/1EDI303xAS product family consists of automotive qualified, pin-compatible product variants which are optimized for IGBTs and SiC MOSFETs. The pin-compatibility makes it easy to switch between variants and swiftly adjust ECUs to different application needs.
The highly robust and proven Infineon Coreless Transformer Technology is used to provide bi-directional signal transfer across the galvanic isolation.
Comprehensive safety features and ISO 26262 compliance significantly facilitate the functional safety implementation on system level for up to ASIL D. With the compact 20-pin package, these product variants are the leanest ISO 26262-compliant gate drivers in the market.
